Ferd's Hawaiian Shirts!

The Hawaiian shirt is the acceptable form of professional dress in Honolulu, much to Ferd's delight and ease of dress. In the movie "The Descendants", George Clooney says something to the effect that the richest, most powerful men in Hawaii often look like bums (Hawaiian shirts, shorts and flip-flops), so Ferd is in distinguished although somewhat drunken company. (Not that he looks like a bum. He actually looks pretty cute.) The really expensive shirts are beautiful, small, subtle prints but all the ones we've seen have been beyond our budget. Clooney wears great ones in the movie. Only the tourists wear the really flamboyant prints, so we've looked for some that are a little more subtle and still affordable. Number 8 is a little over the top, but he likes it. We've now increased Ferd's collection to 10, so I only have to do laundry every 10 days. Today is Valentine's Day - going to go out shopping for a gift so he may have 11 by tomorrow and I'll have an extra day in between laundry.

Think he can wear one under the tux for the AIA event?!

  3. We thought the black and white one (#5) might work with a tux but only if he buttons it up correctly. Business women wear dresses and suits.
